Married filling Jointly

Hi, what are the conditions to file married filing jointly tax returns?

The conditions are that you were married as of the last day of the tax year and you both agree to flie joint and sign the joint return.

Is it necessary to live together for the whole year, like from Jan 1 to Dec 31? and does the same applies to the State and Federal levels?

If you are legally married you do not have to live together in the same household to file as Married Filing Jointly, federal or state tax return.
