Married filing separately

I am married and filing separately. My soon-to-be ex is claiming one of our children and I am claiming the other. Turbotax changed my filing status to head of household. I don't know why and I just sent my return in last night.

Sometimes you qualify for the more advantageous Head of Household filing status. As long as you meet the guidelines below, you are considered unmarried and can claim the Head of Household filing status, and won't need to amend your return:
