MA state says started after filing. Why is that?

According to the table below, the Massachusetts state forms are not yet finalized and available for filing until another few days.  It looks like most MA forms are projected to be available sometime on 1/26/2018.    See the dates in this table:

Once the MA forms are final and when it says "available" in that table, you should be able to go back and efile the state return with this caution below:

NOTE:   If you have already efiled the Federal return, then you won't be able to efile the state return until the Federal return has been accepted.

Except for a few test returns pulled early, the IRS will begin processing returns on January 29.  If you efiled the Federal return, then sometime after January 29 you should hear if you are accepted or rejected, unless you are one of  the test returns pulled early.
