employer for many years decided last year they were only going to take 59.00 for federal taxes. They said I had a 4,000 child tax credit, and didn't take hardly any for the year. Thing is, I never changed my W2's or anything to do with that from previous years. I usually got quite a bit back due to dependents. This year, I only found this out when waiting for w2's to arrive on my work website. they offered up no solutions, other than to talk to my tax advisor(who has those?!) to see what payment plans could be set up. I thought it was the employers duty to correctly take out monies for government.

You can change your W-4 if you want to have more tax withheld.

A bigger refund means you provided the government with an interest free loan all year.
They are supposed to withhold taxes based on what is on your W-4. Fill out a new one and give it to them for 2024. Print W-4 form. For payment options, see IRS Payments
