Late W-2 for $70.44, my tax liability is more than the W-2
Points of interest:
Adding the w2 may have caused you to lose some credits, like EIC, child care, and so on based on income thresholds.
An amended return should not be filed until the original return payments have cleared the bank.
What you need to do:
If you had a refund on the original return, be sure it is deposited and cleared. If you owed money, be sure the payment is made and cleared or not scheduled and can be ignored.
Check your original tax return and compare it to your amended return. You can look at the 1040 forms and compare lines 27-30 for EIC, CTC, AOTC, and RRC. Schedule 3 has additional credits so you will also want to compare sch 3 original and amended to determine what changed.
Payments are due by April 18. Beyond that, you could incur late fees.
If you have to mail your state return, use tracking to ensure safe delivery of your personal information.
