Is this for a W-2?

If so, box D (control number) on a W-2 is just a payroll processing number and is not required (some employers don't list one at all) by the IRS or TurboTax. You may omit the entry in TurboTax.

If you imported the W-2, you may have to delete it and re-enter manually.

I had a missing number and both returns were rejected. Fixed right away and fed was accepted quickly, but state is still pending. Am i ok since it is 4/15.
