You can follow the instructions below to get to the section in TurboTax to enter your gambling/lottery winnings (and then your losses):
- Log in to TurboTax Online
- Click Take me to my return
- Click on Federal Taxes
- Click on Wages & Income
- Locate Less Common Income, click Show More, if offered
- Locate Gambling Winnings and click Start/Update
After you've finished entering all of your gambling winnings, TurboTax will ask about any losses you may have had. Losses can be deducted up to the amount you reported winning, but only if you itemize. If you itemize instead of taking the standard deduction, you can deduct gambling losses up to the amount of your winnings.
