Is it possible that having the wrong occupation on my tax return is delaying its approval?
No, the occupation listed will not affect the time the IRS spends processing your return. The IRS requires we ask about your occupation, so you’ll need to
put something here. Most of the time, an occupation is what you do for work,
but if you’re retired, a student or a stay-at-home parent, that can be your
occupation as well.
Here are some examples that may help you answer this question:
- Truck Driver
- Retired
- Hair Stylist
- Teacher
- Student
-
Unemployed
Note: Lots of people work at more than one job. If you have more than one occupation, just enter the one that you spend the most time doing.
