Is a business code the same as a NAICS code?

No, it's not the same. The business code for Schedule C in your personal Form 1040 tax return has to be selected from the chart at the end of the IRS Instructions for Schedule C. That chart is based on NAICS, but it is not the complete NAICS list.

Line B on Schedule C says "Enter code from instructions." The instructions for Line B say "Enter on line B the six-digit code from the Principal Business or Professional Activity Codes chart at the end of these instructions." Choose a code from the IRS list.

The chart at the link that tagteam posted is for Form 990, not Form 1040, and it appears to be for 2017.
