IRS reject code IND 507-001

If the return has two parents and two children.  Is the spouse the 001?  or the first child?

    E-file reject code IND-507-01 usually means that someone else has already claimed your dependent on another return. It has nothing to do with your spouse. You will need to verify that your dependents' information is correct, check the names, dates of birth, social security numbers.

    At no time is the spouse considered a dependent?  The child is always the 001/2/3 etc?

    No, the spouse is never considered a Dependent.

     

    Yes, the child is always the 01, 02, etc.

     

    I recommend getting a hold of your Dependents' social security cards and ensure that you have entered the SSN and names exactly as they appear on the cards.
