IRS Catch up status?

Just as COVID shut down the USA. I filed a return online with an Estimated income as my employer was late with my W2. When it arrived, I could not amend online. So I filed an amended PAPER tax return for 2020 with my tardy W2. FYI, my original estimate was within pennies!

Per TT Expert instructions, I have NOT refiled since then, and have waited patiently.  (Ha Ha Ha!!!)

It is now November 2022. And I have received NO update from IRS. My tiny $130(?) refund never arrived either.

Do you have any updates on the IRS catching up on past PAPER returns.

Thanks!

According to the IRS:  As of November 4, 2022, we had 4.2 million unprocessed individual returns received this year. These include tax year 2021 returns and late filed prior year returns. Of these, 1.9 million returns require error correction or other special handling, and 2.3 million are paper returns waiting to be reviewed and processed.
