When trying to post a question I have run into an error message which says: "Correct the highlighted errors and try again." However there are no highlighted errors...unless that is referring to some text below the message input box which says "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied." However when trying to post my message the same message text comes up at the bottom. I had typed in plain text. When that didn't work, I copied in plain text. After trying various ways to get past this dead end it seems that clicking on preview is the solution for allowing the message to be posted. I don't recall encountering a snag like this in past years. Has something changed? It seems that it was more intuitive and easier to post a question in the past. Or is this my imagination?

I can assure you it's not your imagination. It's a known quirk/minor inconvenience that has been around for several years. I don't know why it sometimes flags the HTML as wrong. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I post a lot, so I usually encounter it every day, but not always. Whenever that pops up for me, if I know nothing's wrong with it, I just click to submit it again. I don't have to use the Preview method. You should be able to just submit it again--at least that works for me. I've never had it not submit on the second attempt. If it continues to show you that "error" on multiple attempts and you can't get it to re-submit at all without using Preview, then that's different.
Thank you for the insight. My experience with this issue is that trying to resubmit does not work for me without clicking Preview first. I had tried to do multiple times. (Even if I rekey the text in or paste it as text only or copy it to a different doc and copy back to try and eliminate any html that for some reason the form thinks affected it.) At least I found a way to work around the annoying & mysterious error messages after trial and error. However it would be nice if someone would debug the problem for the benefit of community users. I am typically using Firefox as the browser, so I don't know if Chrome or others are more compatible. Although ideally web interfaces should be cross browser compatible with mainstream browsers, I have learned that sometimes using a different browser clears up quirky issues. I don't know if that would address this issue but my focus at this point is on finishing the tax return rather than trying to debug quirky web interface behavior.
