Insurance penalty exemption

Hi,

My wife and me have moved to US from Russia  in June, 2017 . Wife got insurance in July, me - in September from my employer (due to the waiting period). I know that I am eligible to pay penalty for the lack of coverage for 3+ months (June-Aug), but when I am filling turboTax forms, I see that I have penalty distributed from January till August. I don't understand why.. I came to US only in June. What am I doing wrong?

So, did I understand you correctly that after selecting the months of coverage and redirecting to the next page I must selecta checkbox saying that I was a resident of foreign country?

Follow the instruction and select this checkbox if you were a resident of the foreign country.
