Injured spouse form filed on 2018 taxes, found out there's no debt incurred, how do I get my refund faster and not wait 11-14 weeks? If they see there's no debt?

I want to know why this process still takes longer if there's  no debt to pay anyone?  Clearly,  on their end, they can see there's no debt owed,  therefore,  I don't think it should take long.  Last year when filing the injured spouse form and I actually had a debt owed,  I was still able to get my return in 4-5 Weeks.  IRS,  please find a better way for this process. I am sure I am not the only one here going through this!!! Looking for a lifeline here,  please!!!

Once the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) determines there is no refund to offset, then it will immediately reject the injured spouse claim. The problem, however, is the timing.

The injured spouse claim takes a bit longer if you filed it with your 2018 tax return.  The reason is because the tax return has to be processed, then the claim itself has to be screened then assigned to an IRS representative. Usually, the IRS works on a first-in-first-out basis.

You can continue to contact IRS Customer Service by calling 1-800-829-1040 to determine the status of your case. There may be a 2-3 hour wait before you speak to a representative.  Or, you can periodically monitor the status of your refund by calling 1-800-829-1954.
