Incorrect Permanent address on W-2

Hello,

My former employer sent me a W-2 and accidentally put my mailing address (which is located in a different state from where I actually live) as where I reside (box e/f). When I contacted them and asked if they could send me a revised W-2, they said I could just input my actual permanent address in it's place. I was wondering if you could clarify whether or not this advice is correct.

The address on your tax return and the address on your W-2 do not have to match.  There is no need for a correction on the W-2.
