Income tax to other jurisdictions

When attempting to e-file my Fed and State (MA) returns, it ask me to answer one more question about my State Return (MA). I continued and the form titled: Credit for Income Tax paid to other jurisdiction form OJC appeared with a box asking for jurisdiction paid in PINK and the available choices were all the States, Territories, Canada, some islands etc.  The first line choice was: NO ENTRY and if you click on it , it would not appear in the box.  I could not get past this form in order to Efile.  I finally entered CT for Connecticut and the program was then satisfied.  I made to changes to other info as there was no tax paid to any other states or territories etc and I was NOT claiming any credits.  I was able to e-file after placing that entry into the pink colored box.

Waiting now for acceptance.

The program would not have known to ask questions if something didn't trigger it. Dividends, wages, something that could have been foreign or out of state.

Income tax to other jurisdictions

AmyC,

Thank you for your response.  Yes, in my case there was a small amount of Foreign Taxes Paid in one of my Investment Accounts.  It was properly entered and shown on the Federal Return.  Taxes Paid to Foreign entity was credited on my Fed Tax return.  Evidently this carried over to my Massachusetts Tax Return but there was no way to enter the required info in the State Return.  The "Credit for Income Taxes Paid to Other Jurisdictions" asks for State Name or other Jurisdiction.  Nothing is listed representing my other jurisdiction which is Various .  NO ENTRY will not be accepted.  Nothing can be manually typed in so...unable to proceed with filing.  My only solution was to just select one of the States listed, in my case CT, and then I could proceed and file.

My Federal and State returns were accepted as filed within about an hour after filing.

My State refund was deposited to my bank account 3 days after filing my return electronically.

I owed the Feds.
