In March, fed tax owed was $1571. today CP14 arrived, my TT return shows a balance due of $3815, but the payment voucher still showed only $1571 due. Why the difference?

If the IRS changed your return the TT program is not made aware of it and the IRS usually mails out an explanation if they do change anything ... the CP14 is usually not the first letter you get.

I dont know if I filed married filing separate or married filing jointly this year? I have student loans and I read where both incomes can make loan amt increase?
