importing data from brokerage account

With TurboTax 2019 I had to sign into my Intuit (Turbotax) account before importing data from my brokerage firm.  This seems to imply that Intuit now has my brokerage password.  I don’t recall having to do this in the past, and I am concerned about it.  Why is this necessary?   Is there an option, other than typing in the data myself?

I can understand your concern.  I'm extremely confident that your ID and Password are secure with TurboTax, but I would like to at least present a different alternative.

Mint is an Intuit company, like TurboTax, and a financial platform that helps you take control of your finances.

Mint finds tax documents and can help you jump-start your taxes by importing them into TurboTax. Certain 1099 tax documents for the financial institutions you've linked to your Mint account will be identified and you can select which you want to be imported.

I have a better alternative:  Let users access their brokerage account data without logging into their TurboTax accounts.  I do not want to use Mint, and it's not clear to me that it address my issue anyway.
