If you turn 65years old before o the end of the tax year and are a US citizen; is that enough to qualify as elderly or must you be disabled also?

If you are 65 or older at the end of 2023 you get the higher standard deduction ---it will show up on line 12 of your Form 1040.  The software uses your date of birth as entered in MY INFO.

As for the credit for Elderly and Disabled---Congress has not updated that credit for so many years  (decades) that very few people are eligible to use it.

Just turning 65 is all that is needed and  would qualify for the Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled if you meet the income levels.
