I went through a legal name change in May of 2017, therefore I made wages under 2 different names. Will this have any effect on how I file, or will it delay my tax return

If you have changed your name with the Social Security Administration and have a new SS card in our new name, you must file your tax with your new name.

You enter all your forms W-2 (including those with your former name) in your tax return. The IRS can identify you with your SSN.

If you have not yet changed your name with the Social Security administration, you must file your tax return using your previous name.

Please follow this link on how to change your name with the SS Administration:
