If we got $ from CA for paid family leave in 2017, but have not received the 1099G form yet what do we do? We have contacted the state many times with no response.

You will first want to go online to see if you can get a copy of your 1099-G.

You can view, print, or request an official copy of your Form 1099G information for up to the past five years by accessing your UI OnlineSM account. To view our helpful

or to learn more, visit www.edd.ca.gov/UI_Online..

Since paid family leave is taxable income, if you cannot get the 1099-G from the state, then you can just report it as other miscellaneous income as "Family Leave paid not reported on 1099-G"

To enter your other income as other miscellaneous income:

  1. Click on the “Federal Taxes” tab ("Personal" tab in TurboTax Home & Business)
  2. Next click on “Wages and Income”
  3. Next click on "jump to full list" or “I’ll choose what I work on” - show all income
  4. Scroll down the screen until to come to the section “Less Common Income”
  5. Choose "show more", then Miscellaneous Income
  6. Choose "Other Reportable Income" and enter this information here under other taxable income

Thanks for your response. I followed your advice to fill up PFL amount for Federal - under "other taxable income", but I am not sure now what do I have to do for State (california) return? 

 

How do I indicate Ca that $xx under "other taxable income" is PFL?

Also what amount do I fill for this questions under state return 

"PFL income received from Company insurance company" ? EDD directly paid my PFL , nothing from my company. Box 1 and Box 16 on the W2 has the same amount. 

Should I fill : 

1. Box 1 amount

2.  Zero "0" 

3. $xx same as under Federal "other taxable income"
