No, "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" is not the same as "Not valid for employment". Please return to that section of TurboTax and remove that checkbox so that you get the right credits for your children.
Sometimes in this section, selections that you have made get "stuck" so if this doesn't resolve the issue, then please delete your children and re-enter them without choosing the option "not valid for employment" with their Social Security number.
If the children are US citizens then do NOT check the box labeled "not valid for employment"
No, they are not US citizens. We've been living in the US on a TN visa for the last 3 years. They received the SSN last year as part of the immigration process (not finalized yet)
I'm honestly not sure what to put in the tool given this special situation. Last year I was able to deduct 500 per child because they only had the ITIN (same as the previous year, where my taxes were filled by an accountant firm). I surely messed with something this year because the tool is telling me that I my total deduction per child is 0.

Thanks. For confirming the information about the label.
I deleted the information and entered it again. That didn't solve the problem, though :(
You can try erasing your return and starting over. You can do this as long as you haven't paid, taken out the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered your product.
