If I paid for 2019 premier, do I get 2020 premier for free?

No.  (though military enlisted, who have a military W-2 for 2020 would get to use it for free)

Whether Online or Desktop, you have to pay for Premier every year.   The tax software is different every year.

The Online "Free" Edition can be free for some folks.....but only if they can use a BARE 1040, with effectively no other supporting forms and schedules. 

Online Premier would be required if you have any investment income from stocks/bonds/mutual funds  (Schedule D/8949) , or Rental or Farm income, and probably a few other things
