I initially claimed identity theft, because someone else claimed my child. I need to take it off, because I'm not waiting a year for a refund

If IRS gives you an IP PIN, that should speed up your refund, not delay it.

applying for an IP PIN now should not delay your current refund.

if you are not married and had only 1 qualifying child, then you probably got head of household rates. taking off that dependent will not only result in your filing status changing to single but some tax credits that you would have gotten will be lost.
