Yes, you can file an extension so that you have time to prepare your tax return completely.  Be prepared with your closely estimated income and tax liability as well as what has already been paid through estimates or withholding. The link provided by ee-ea will get help explain the process.

Be sure you file by April 15th, and keep in mind that an extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay.  It will stop any accumulation of late filing fees.

If you don't have all of the tax funds, you should prepare your return as soon as possible after acceptance of your extension.
