I was told by a tax professional my husband does not have to report the total amount that based on income he only has to report so much? Does Turbo tax do this for us?

Please clarify your question. What "income" are you referring to?

i'm sorry it is his social security income he will be 72 in april i was told only a certain percentage had tobe reported

You do enter the total amount of his social security in the program.  The program then determines how much of the social security is taxable, based on your other income and filing status.  Much more will be taxable if he is filing Married Separate.
