I was laid off from job in CA but received severance through Sept. Started new job in Tx in June. Is the Severance received from June to Sept considered CA income?

Yes, it would be considered California income as the payment was received from your California employer.  Another way to confirm is whenever you receive your W2, look in box 15 (sample of W2 with box 15 highlighted), the State that the tax was paid to will be there, that is the State that the income must be recorded.

However, if you receive taxable income from another State as well as California and pay taxes in more than one State, you may qualify for a tax credit.  As you go through TurboTax, answer each question pertaining to your income and the program will guide you to see if you qualify for this credit.
