Sorry you can’t do that. You are suppose to include all your income on one return. You can only efile the first original return. You now have to mail in an Amended 1040X return to add the second W2.

Do not enter or change anything until after you start the amended return. If you have added or changed your return you need to take out any changes and put your return back to the way it was when you originally filed it.

Amended returns can only be MAILED not efiled. How to amend 2017

You will still get the first refund or need to pay the original tax due. Then the amended return is only for the difference you get back or owe. In fact you should not even amend until the first return has fully processed and you get the first refund or your tax due payment has cleared. And make sure the original refund or tax paid shows up on the amended return. You can confirm this by printing your amendment and looking at the 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16. If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

Thank you very much. If i can explain in depth? I assumed my employer issued all my W2's so i filed, sent and recieved my refund, than out of the blue i recieved another W2! So i filed as a brand new return. Didnt amend or re-filed....i hope there is an possible option?

You need to log into your first return and amend it. Sounds like you set up a new account to a brand new return? Then leave the new account alone and forget about it. You can try to clear it out but that’s not necessary. How to clear, https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4248526

Then go back to your first account and amend it. Did you get another W2 from the same employer? Why? You should only get 1 W2 per Employer. Is the new one a Corrected W2? Or did you have more than 1 Employer?
