I received my PIN # from the IRS through the mail.

Can I use my IP ID # for my last year returns too?

No, you cannot use the IP-PIN from last year. The IRS will send you a CP01A notice with your 2017 IP PIN by early January 2018.

If you lost your 2017 IP PIN or didn't receive one yet, learn how to get one.

I am attaching the instructions for your reference.  Hope the information helps!

just an FYI :The Self-Select PIN is a random 5-digit number that you enter as your electronic signature when e-filing your return.

The IP PIN is a 6-digit number that the IRS assigns to victims of tax-related identity theft. More info

Follow these instructions to enter your 6 digit IP PIN or remove one that you accidentally entered.
