I put the wrong birthday in the extension form

I haven't filed taxes in year because I had none to report . I filed an extension for this year because I didn't have my W2 before the filing deadline and now the irs is rejecting my actual refunds for an incorrect birthday.

Most likely, the IRS has the wrong date of birth on file due to the extension you filed. In this scenario, you won't be able to e-file because the date you're entering doesn't match their records.

  1. Select File in the left menu.
  2. Select Continue.
  3. Select Start next to Step 3: Get ready to save and file your returns.
  4. Select Change next to your federal return.
  5. Select File by mail and follow the instructions to print and mail your return.

Tip: To prevent this rejection next year, call the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to verify their records (this is where the IRS database pulls from). If the info is wrong, please allow 4–6 weeks for correction.

If you never filed the return or filed an extension for 2021, then it is considered a late return. You would need to purchase the 2021 software here, and file the return.
