TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed returns.  Wait about 4 weeks from when you mail a return and then you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

In the future, if you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

Did you mail your federal and state returns in separate envelopes?  We have seen people send them both in the same envelope and then when the state gets your federal return, it never gets filed with the IRS.  Did you mail the federal to the IRS?

TurboTax has no way to know when or whether you actually mailed your tax returns, and TurboTax does not get any feedback from the IRS about the status of your mailed tax return. Once your tax return is "ready to mail" TurboTax is out of the loop, so it will never say anything beyond "ready to mail."

What does Where's My Refund? on the IRS web site say about the status of your refund?

Your tax return is the form you send to the government that shows your income and calculates your tax. The money the government sends back to you is your refund.
