Either buy Deluxe or If you have a simple return You can fill out the blank forms for free.

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

There is no free filing option for 2017 after October 15, 2018. If you don't have to file a state tax return you could use TurboTax Basic, which is less expensive than Deluxe. But if you need the state, Deluxe is your best option. You can't buy Basic for 2017 on TurboTax.com, but you can find it at a reputable online seller that still has TurboTax Basic for 2017 in stock. You might also get a lower price for Deluxe from a reputable online seller that still has TurboTax Deluxe for 2017 in stock. Deluxe comes in two versions, with or without the state. TurboTax.com sells it only with the state included. If you buy it from another source, make sure you get the version that includes the state. Read the product description or the box carefully.
