I need to file form 8962.

With TurboTax Free Edition, follow these instructions:

  1. Log into TurboTax, then click on the orange button to go to your return.
  2. Click on the Federal taxes tab on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  3. In the Search box, type "1095-a," then select Jump to 1095-A.
  4. This will begin the interview for health insurance.
  5. After you have told the program how many months you had health insurance, it will ask Were you enrolled in any of these less common plans in 2016? Select Yes.
  6. Under What type of plan were you enrolled in?, select Obamacare plan (1095-A).

At this point, you will need to enter the information from your 1095-A.

If you have not received a copy of your 1095-A yet from your health insurer, you can contact them to request a copy. You can also view your 1095-A online:

  • Log in to Marketplace account

  • Select your this year application (be sure you’re not choosing last year's coverage application)

  • Select “Tax forms” from the menu on the left

  • View or download each Form 1095-A

  • All 1095-As are also available with your Marketplace messages

Check the Marketplace for more information about how to get a copy of your 1095-A.
