I need to file a 1040-X for my Mom when she gets her refund as I neglected to check the box that I can claim her as a dependent. My return was rejected for this reason.

Because I tried to claim her. I filed both returns via e-file. My question is will i be able to e-file her 1040-X form?, and when can i re-file my return and can I e-file my return again? Thank you!

Even if you amend your mother's return, you cannot e-file this year.  Your return claiming your mother as a dependent will have to be filed by mail.   You put your mom's SSN into the system and it will take many months for the system to be corrected.  Amending your mom't return will not enable you to e-file this year--ever.

Print, sign and date your return, and mail it in.   Your mom can amend her return (or you can amend it for her) when it has been fully processed.   You do not need to wait for that to mail your own return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
