If you have already filed your taxes, you will have to set up instalment payments directly with the IRS.  You can apply for a payment plan (Form 9465) at the IRS Payment Plans and Installment Agreements website.

Click here to Apply online for a payment plan

Your specific tax situation determines which payment options are available to you. Payment options include full payment, a short-term payment plan or a long-term payment plan

The IRS does charge a user fee for setting up or reinstating an instalment agreement.

Entering into an instalment agreement can provide you with peace of mind that the IRS will not pursue any of the harshest collection methods at its disposal, but interest and penalty charges will continue to accrue on your unpaid tax balances

I need to make my payment arrangement. It keeps denying my request. Can you tell me why?

I filed my taxes with TurboTax middle of March.
I have gone to the website to apply for a payment plan 4 times.

At first I thought I had to wait until after filling day, checked again the last two days.

I continue to be denied right off the bat just after putting my amount owed ($11,448) into the box.

is this because my taxes are not on file yet?
the balance isn't showing on my account yet?

or some other reason?

I called and they referenced some number that would have been on the "notice I received" - should I wait for something in the mail to be able to set up the payment plan?

If you filed in March, then you return should be processed by now.

You can go to your IRS account and see if it shows the balance due.  You will also be able to see if they did send you any letter that may have got lost in the mail.

If you have a balance, you should be able to apply for the payment plan.  However, you can apply for a payment plan prior to them processing and seeing your balance.

To request a long-term payment plan, use the Online Payment Agreement application. Even if the IRS hasn’t yet issued you a bill, you may establish a pre-assessed agreement by entering the balance you’ll owe from your tax return. An online payment agreement is quick and has a lower user fee compared to other application methods.

If you are being rejected, maybe try a different computer to see if it is a tech issue?  Otherwise, the IRS is the only one who can tell you what is happening.
