I mailed my federal tax returns and they where already processed and accepted by the IRS however the status still appears as rejected on turbo tax how do I fix this?

You do not fix it ... it will always be rejected on the TT site since the IRS doesn't update them on mailed in returns ... there is nothing to fix.

I just want to now process my state returns and It won't let me given that the federal ones appear as rejected

Since you had to mail in the federal return you must also mail in the state ... in the FILE tab choose the mail in option.
