I made under 33,000 for AGI. I filed using the 2018 Self-Employed version of Turbo Tax. I didn't know there was a new free e-filing act. Should TurboTax have told me?

This is mainly a user community forum.  You can phone TurboTax Support and discuss your situation with them, and tell them you read about the free file product that is offered in conjunction with the IRS, and see if they will work something out.

If your 2018 AGI was less than $34,000, that would have qualified for the TurboTax Free File Program for a free Federal and free state return. That's at a special website, however.  The regular Online TurboTax website did not mention it, and the very-limited regular Free Edition at the Online TurboTax is not the same thing.    The TurboTax Free File Program can handle all the usual forms including Schedule C for self-employed IF the user meets one of the qualifications to use it.

Hours are 5AM-5PM Pacific (8AM-8PM Eastern) Monday-Friday.

The FREE FILE option has been around for years and is handled thru the IRS ...complain to them that they did not advertise it enough.
