I made $500 in freelance work, but client wasn't required to file 1099 since it was less than $600. How do I report this?

Clients are only required to file a 1099-MISC to me if they paid me more than $600. But if it's more than $400, then I'm responsible for reporting it. Where do I report the $500 I made, since it falls in between? It seems silly to buy the home business TurboTax since it's such a small amount and I didn't have any expenses. Another search says I'm supposed to file a 1040-SE, but I don't see anything like that in this version of TurboTax.

To enter the income when you did not receive a Form 1099 Misc. – not using Turbo Tax Self Employed:

• Select Federal Taxes
• Select Wages and Income
• Select Show More at Less Common Income
• Select Miscellaneous Income
• Select Start or Update at Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099

You will get to a screen where you type in a description of the amount you were paid. You are not able to take any offsetting expenses. You must upgrade to Turbo Tax Self Employed to include your business expenses.

Do I have to pay the home business expense in order to report this income if it is less than $500?

Thanks, but why do I have to upgrade to the Deluxe Turbo Tax Edition? I earned $500 and had no expenses. I just want to put the $500 in.
