This seems to be an error in saving your tax file.

  • Try to save it to a different location.
  • You can try your desktop so you can see it.
  • Check your antivirus software for compatibility

I'm getting error code 567810 "We're having trouble saving file to this location

I never had any file issues with Turbo Tax over the past years. This year, when I click on transmit, I received an error message "We're having trouble saving your file to this location. Try unplugging your device and saving again or choose a different device or hard drive" Error: 567810

Any solution?

Here's some troubleshooting Steps for Error 567810 summarized by other user's posts:

  • Move/Save Locally: If saving to a network drive, USB, or cloud folder (OneDrive/Dropbox), try saving the file directly to your local computer's documents folder.
  • Run as Administrator (Windows): Right-click the TurboTax icon and select "Run as administrator" to ensure the program has permission to save files.
  • Check File Permissions: Ensure the folder you are saving to is not marked as "Read-only" and that your Windows user account has full control.
  • Update TurboTax: Ensure you are running the latest version of the software. Go to the Online menu and select Check for Updates (PC) or quit/reopen the app (Mac).
  • Restart and Retry: Close TurboTax, restart your computer, and try saving again.
  • Disable Antivirus/VPN: Temporarily disable security software that might be blocking file writes.

If the issue persists, the file may be corrupted, and you might need to use a backup copy of your return. You can find this in the Documents > TurboTax folder with a 'tilde' sign in front of it.

@MarilynG1, thank you for the guidance - I've tried all the steps but it still persist. I wanted to to redownload the software on another device but says link expired.

Unfortunately I could NOT get through to someone on Turbo tax to assist me to troubleshoot - I believe it stated I don't have a life support, can't remember the verbiage but it was clear to me that I could not be connnect someone.

I never had this kind of an issue in the past few years -  definitely a wasted investment this year.

Don't "Restart TT and Retry" unless you know where your *tax files are stored! When I did this, TurboTax lost connection to my taxes--which I had FINISHED--and tried to make me recreate them from scratch. Fortunately we could find the .tax file (not the pdf, which I had also saved but which did not prove helpful in this case), and relink it to the current year TT....after having a heart attack and cursing a lot.
