Question

I'm getting a "Some formsets are not present on this machine. Please install all formsets" when opening my 2023 return. Same computer, what's going on?

Do you get a error code 190? After you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN

Unfortunately that didn't help. I have not state forms as I'm in a state that does not require it. And yes, it is Error 190. when I go to downloads, it says its up to date and the update history shows all installed. I can't open my return until this is fixed. Any other ideas? Thanks for replying

Well error 190 is for the state program. See error 190

So it must think you have a state in your file. You need to figure out which state you need so you can download it into a new return.

Are you on Windows? Run Windows updates too.
