I'm getting a server error saying to retry is there a problem with a server ?

There was no outage reported for the Turbotax servers. It's possible that there was a small hiccup on the server. If you try again, it should go through without an issue.

paing taxes in maryland and Dc but wish to solve the problem for tax puposes next year.
