I’m filing my taxes married filing separately. My husband and I have one child who I claim. form 2120 is coming up as error and no one else supports him. How can I fix?

We are still married and living together. Noticed form says taxpayer as parent but can’t uncheck to change to taxpayer and spouse. Not sure where to go to fix as I think that may be the issue. We are the only two that support him and if I try to enter my husbands information it tells me I can’t.

You wouldn’t use Form 2120 in your situation, because your child is a Qualifying Child who lived with you.

First, in the Personal Info Section, go back and delete the dependent, then re-enter his information. Make sure that you enter that this is your child.

Enter that he lived with you all year. Enter that you have an agreement with the other parent and that they will not claim the dependent.

When you are asked if another relative lived in your house and helped support the dependent, say NO.

If you are still prompted to enter information on a Form 2120, you can delete that form using the tools menu on the left side of your screen. Then go to the Tools Center and choose Delete A Form.
