I’m a non-dependent child on my parents health insurance, but I found out that they didn’t have health insurance in 2018 for 3 months, will I be penalized, what do I do?
I am a non dependent child who was on my parents’ health insurance for the year 2018, but I found out in March that my parents didn’t qualify for health insurance (leaving me without insurance for 3 months), so I got my own starting in April; will I be penalized for not having health insurance from Jan-March, even though I didn’t know?

Unfortunately, as you are no longer a dependent, you will have to pay the ACA penalty for not having health insurance for the first 3 months of 2018. You will have to answer the questions in the Health insurance section of TurboTax and TurboTax will calculate the penalty.
