I'll just file elsewhere......... Not sufficient help for filing if I can't get clarity on an issue.

Asked if I have a dependent and they wanted a Social that I've never known or had access to. My daughter's Mom has always supported her. I pay child support and they take my tax return yearly.

Paying child support does not allow you to claim your child.  If your daughter lives with and is supported by her mother, there is no reason to add her to your tax return.  Therefore, you do not need her Social Security Number.

It is possible for you to claim your daughter as your dependent even if she does not live with you, but you would need the permission of her mother if she lives with her, or it would need to be stipulated in a divorce decree.
