I lived in Texas the entire 2020 year. I received unemployment from Kansas, since I worked there in 2019. Do I owe Kansas state income tax on the unemployment received?

No, you don't have to pay KS state income tax, on your unemployment, since you lived in TX for the duration of the payments.

Unemployment insurance benefits are taxable income for federal purposes.

Wow, that is great news. I was seeing mixed answers and guidance, some with strong language that said if Kansas paid it, state taxes are due. I will go with your guidance given you are a CPA and have high marks. For record keeping, is there official guidance I can reference in-case of an audit?
