I just e-filed my taxes on Turbo Tax. Will it be accepted by IRS today or do I need to file by mail by midnight?

It may take longer than today for your return to be accepted by the IRS, especially since this is the last day for timely filing.  As long as your return has been transmitted before midnight, you do not need to file by mail also.

Take a look at the following TurboTax article for more information:  What if my return is still pending or rejected on May 17?

I do quite a number of tax returns for folks. Although it says it may take up to a couple of days, it has never been my experience that you  don't receive an email stating whether or not it was accepted or rejected within an hour or so.  If its rejected TurboTax will help you fix it; its usually something minor. I've transmitted 7 returns today and all were accepted but 1, which was rejected for an incorrect birthdate. It was fixed, retransmitted and accepted 15 minutes later. IF YOU DONT GET AN ACCEPTED RETURN AND YOU OWE MONEY, you need to pay that amount before the end of the day. File an extension and pay the monies due., and be sure it's postmarked today .If you owe nothing than there is nothing to worry about. Even though you should file an extension, if you don't owe anything there is nothing to add interest and penalties to.  Hope that helps!
