I have two accounts

Once created, TurboTax Online (TTO) accounts cannot be deleted or merged.  However, as long as you haven’t paid or registered the product, you can clear any data you entered in the account you'd like to delete and let that account remain inactive. 

Once you've paid or registered, we're required to store copies of your return. These are the same requirements imposed on accountants, CPAs, and other professional tax preparers.

Don't worry if you started a TurboTax Online return but didn't finish it. We're still dedicated to protecting every customer's personal and financial information.

Tip: Consider keeping the TTO account that was used to prepare last year's taxes and prepare your current year in the same account.  By using the same TTO account from year to year you will have easy access to your prior year information.

Here are the steps to clear an account:

    Sign in to the TurboTax Online account you want to remain inactive and open your return by clicking the orange Take Me to My Return button.
    With your screen maximized, click My Account (at the top of your screen toward the right) and select Clear & Start Over. (If on a tablet or phone, you may find the Clear & Start Over option by clicking the three parallel lines, or “hamburger”, in the top left corner.)
    Answer Yes to Are you sure you want to clear your return?
    You can then leave this account dormant.
