I have no farm income and have checked the boxes indicating no farm income but the program has entered a $2000 loss.

Check the box stating "You do have farm income" even if you don't, just to Edit and review your farm. If your farm is no longer active, you need to close it down by reporting "you have sold or otherwise disposed of this farm in 2016" and Edit each asset to report how you have disposed of each one in your Asset Summary.

You may have had assets that continue to depreciate year after year and those expenses could create a loss in the current year even without any income.
