I have duplicate codes in Box 12 of my W2. TurboTax says it is a duplicate and won't accept. Do I add the amounts so it becomes one entry or does it need to match the W2?

What code is duplicate?

Sounds like an improper W-2 of you did not enter it properly.

Please clarify what the duplicate code is in box 12, and are there any notes attached?

The duplicate codes are W - Employer Contributions to Health Savings Account.  I had deductions to my HSA account through payroll and my employer also contributed to my HSA account.  Oddly enough, I checked my 2020 tax returns and the W2 was processed the same and the tax software I used didn't reject it.

Code W shows only the EMPLOYERS contributions not the employees.     The employees contribution is simply included in box 1 wages.    There should only be one code W.  That sounds like an improper W-2.

See W-2 instructions:

[quote]

Code W—Employer contributions to a health savings account (HSA). Show any employer contributions (including amounts the employee elected to contribute using a section 125 (cafeteria) plan) to an HSA.

An employee's contributions to an HSA (unless made
through a cafeteria plan) are includible in income as
wages and are subject to federal income tax withholding
and social security and Medicare taxes (or railroad
retirement taxes, if applicable). Employee contributions
are deductible, within limits, on the employee's Form 1040
or 1040-SR.
