How are you otherwise confident that the returns were accepted? Does the State have record of the tax return?

When was it mailed?
Even if you have proof that you filed, and it was lost, you will need to print, sign and mail the return. Also mail your W2's, 1099 forms, and other forms. Use a mail service that gives you a notice when it is received.
